Community Land Week on the 14th October, 2021 how it went
Thursday, 14th October
Organised by: Udny Community Trust Company Lt
We were pleased with the way that our small celebratory event went. As soon as the doors opened Cafe48 welcomed visitors eager to take advantage of the free breakfast roll offer, and there was a real buzz about the place from the start of the day as a result.
Seventeen walkers gathered in the front garden to set off on our planned 'Walk up a Hill' from 10 am. As well as many regular walkers we were delighted to see a couple of new faces and noted that this was the biggest group of walkers to join us for one of our longer walks to date. We hope to build on this success.
The walk set off under overcast skies but the sun tried its best to peep through as we reached the top of Raitshill, In the end the weather stayed fine and we made it back dry. Everyone made it to the top, even a few folk that weren't sure they would, and we all agreed that it was a grand walk.
One feature of all our walks is the warm welcome extended to all, the blethers and the laughter. This isn't a walk just to stay fit, its a walk to lift the spirits too. Keep an eye out for more walks to come. Everyone is welcome.
The bonus of todays walk was the offer of a free soup and sweet on return to base.
While the walkers were away, the Quarry Room was also busy with visitors. A fair number of folk took up the offer of a preview look at the newly refurbished area. We were pleased with the feedback and can't wait to get a program of events underway so that we can welcome visitors in for real.
