Vikki's DTAS Conference Experience

What can I say. Wow.
I feel privileged to have been sitting in the front row listening to Søren Hermansen, Director of Samso Energy Academy, the keynote speaker at the DTAS Conference talking about "Samso Island The Energy Island".
Picture an island with a population of 4,000 people, completely dependent on oil... now Samso is powered 100% by renewable energy including turbines, solar panels and district heating and these things belong to the Islanders themselves!
This community own their island and their future! Interestingly and rightly the environmental agenda and the transition to green energy was the main focus and a hot topic at the DTAS Conference but more than that, the focus on communities owning their future - the power of communities working together for a better / greener future. What a remarkable journey to the world's first Island powered by 100% renewable energy, a journey we can all draw inspiration from.
